Lenovo launches IdeaPad Y500 and IdeaPad Z500 in India

Lenovo launched the IdeaPad Y500 and IdeaPad Z500 today as an update to the IdeaPad Y and Z series. Both the IdeaPad Y500 and the IdeaPad Z500 have been specially designed for Windows 8, are powered by third-generation Intel Core processors and are available in a variety of colour and performance options. While the Lenovo IdeaPad Y500 is available for Rs 64,290, the Lenovo IdeaPad Z500 is in the market for Rs 48,990.

The IdeaPad Y500, the latest in Lenovo’s Y series, is touted as a mobile and multimedia powerhouse and features an "UltraBay." The UltraBay is an interchangeable bay that can be used to instantly swap out for dual graphics capability, increased storage space or an additional fan for cooling. The notebook is capable of handling intensive tasks and has 16GB DDR3 RAM with up to 1TB of HDD storage.


The notebook has a 3rd generation Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDIA graphics processor. With 750GB of interchangeable HDD storage bays, IdeaPad Y500 also features USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports, along with a 6-in-1 card reader and Bluetooth 4.0. It also has Gigabyte LAN or 10/100/1000 Ethernet for super speed data buffering during gaming.

The IdeaPad Y500 also has JBL speakers and Dolby Home Theater v4 for audio. The notebook has a carbon fiber patterned cover, 15.6-inch LED backlit widescreen HD displays as well as a dual layer backlit AccuType keyboard.

The IdeaPad Z500 comes with 3rd generation Intel Core i7 processor as well as NVIDIA GeForce GT 645M 2GB graphics with DirectX 11. The notebook features a 15.6-inch backlit LED HD display quite like the IdeaPad Y500. The Z500 features up to 8GB DDR memory with up to 1TB HDD storage. It also has Intelligent Touchpad that has been optimised for the new Windows 8 interface with easy scroll, zoom and rotate functions.

Both the Lenovo IdeaPad Y500 and the IdeaPad Z500 are available in the markets with default two-year warranties and an accidental damage warranty.

Lenovo launched the 13-inch and 11-inch models of the IdeaPad Yoga last December. The notebooks were showcased at CES 2012 and won 14 awards. The IdeaPad Yoga is a multi-mode device that can flip and fold while offering the user versatility by transforming effortlessly from an Ultrabook into a tablet in a singular motion.

The Yoga 13 weighs 1.54 Kg and provides notebook-grade performance to get work done. At the flip of its double hinge, the keyboard flips 360-degrees from beneath the display to transform into a media-friendly tablet fitted with audio-visual features like Dolby Home Theatre. With Windows RT and Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, it can perform office tasks as an Ultrabook in laptop mode. 

The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 is available for Rs 84,290 while the IdeaPad Yoga 11 is available for Rs 61,790.
