It’s been a month since the release of Borderlands 2, and Gearbox is all set to release the first major piece of downloadable content (DLC) for the game. The pirate themed DLC takes you to the desert town of Oasis, where you will meet the pirate named Captain Scarlett. The trailer for the DLC shows some of the environments that the heroes will find themselves in, and mentions making and breaking new alliances.
Gearbox had confirmed the Captain Scarlett and her Pirate’s Booty DLC earlier this month."You can sense the pirate theme across the landscape, even though there's no water," said Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford. "It's all dried up. It feels more like Tatooine than an ocean. These bandits have really embraced the pirate lifestyle, and there's the legend of a treasure. That kicks off this whole adventure that the players can go on." The DLC features new enemies such as sand worms that hover across the terrain in the desert, as well as a new vehicle called the sand skiff. The DLC will also have a new currency called seraph crystals. According to Pitchford, the campaign is meant to be for everyone, including those who haven't finished the game, as well as those who have finished it a million times and want to explore the world of Pandora again. Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty is set to be the first major DLC released for Borderlands 2 and will be included in the Season Pass. The DLC by itself is set to cost $9.99 (around Rs 524), but players can also buy the Season Pass for the game, which includes all four planned major DLCs and costs $29.99 (Rs 1,574 approx).
"If you're looking for legendary treasure, you've come to the right chick."
The Mechromancer DLC was recently released for those of us who hadn’t pre-ordered the game. The DLC contains a new character called Gaige the Mechromancer. Like every other class in the game, Gaige the Mechromancer also has a special ability called Deathtrap, which is a robot she can summon to presumably go on a murderous rampage against her enemies. Her three skill trees are Best Friends Forever, Little Big Trouble and Ordered Chaos. Gearbox has made her skill tree available on the skill calculator so you can get a closer look at her skills. Gearbox’s role playing shooter might get a release on the PlayStation Vita. In an interview with IGN, head of Gearbox Randy Pitchford said, “If some other studio was capable and could be trusted by us, and by a publishing partner, and by Sony, and someone wanted to invest in making that happen? I think Sony should step up and make that happen”. Pitchford will be meeting with Sony on the matter soon. This could possibly mean a PlayStation Vita version for Borderlands 2. And if we’re making wishes, we could also wish for cross-platform co-op between the PlayStation Vita and the PlayStation 3. Borderlands 2 is available in retail stores for Rs 999 for the PC version, and Rs 2,499 for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 versions. The PC version of the game is also available on Steam for $59.99 (around Rs 3,100). |
