Google announces scan-and-match music service

Google has announced a new service that is all set to compete with the likes of Apple. The new service is a part of Google Music and will be like Apple’s iTunes Match service. The service scans your music collection and lets you stream it from other devices. While Apple charges $24.99 (approximately Rs 1,347), Google is set to release its service for free. According to the post on Google’s blog, “We’ll scan your music collection and any song we match against the Google Play catalog will be automatically added to your online library without needing to upload it, saving you time.” The whole process is set to be free, including matching, syncing and streaming. According to the blog, the service is set to launch on November 13. The company has partnered with Twentieth Century Fox, Time, People, InStyle, and others, to bring more TV shows, movies, and magazines to the service. Along with this, Google has partnered with Warner Music Group, which will add its complete music catalogue with new songs being added every day. The company plans to launch the expanded Google Play in Europe on November 13, with the first countries to get it being the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. Google announced new devices in the Nexus range on its official blog today – a revised version of the Nexus 7 tablet, a new 10-inch tablet called the Nexus 10, and Nexus 4, LG's offering with the Nexus branding. Also announced was a new version of Android, v4.2, still called Jelly Bean. Android v4.2 brings other great features such as Gesture Typing, which lets you glide your finger over the letters you want to type on the keyboard, thus adding the functionality of the Swype keyboard into the stock Android keyboard. Android v4.2 also adds support for wireless display so you can wirelessly watch movies, YouTube videos, and play games right on a Miracast-compatible HDTV. Another major feature of the latest version of Android is the update to Google Now, a service that Google had introduced with the Jelly Bean version of the Android operating system. Google has added more features to Google Now. The service can now alert you of flight and hotel recommendations, as well as about nearby attractions, photo spots, movie times, and concert timings. The most important feature of the revised model of the Asus-manufactured Nexus 7 is its HSPA+ connectivity. The new Nexus 7 will be available in 16GB and 32GB capacities. The 16GB version will cost $199, which converts to roughly Rs 10,761. The 32GB version will cost $249, approximately Rs 13,465. The HSPA+ enabled Nexus 7 will be able to operate on more than 200 GSM providers around the world.
