Aresearch was done by the university of California to determine whether the use of 3D glasses would affect your eyes. After experimenting on 24 adults, they concluded, that the use of 3D glasses does not only hurt your eyes, but affects your brain as well. The excess use of 3D glasses caused visual discomfort, fatigue and headaches. Some viewers experience Epileptic strokes when they are exposed to flashing lights contained in movie content  or video games. 3D viewing also causes altered vision, dizziness, convulsions, nausea, and disorientation in the body. Therefore, parents should monitor their children while they are watching any such content.

Viewing in 3D mode may also cause motion sickness, eye strain or postural instability. It is recommended to take breaks while watching 3D content. It is also recommended not to wear 3D glasses for anything else than 3D TV, as it may weaken or harm your eyes.

Martin S. Bans ( Professor of visual science) stated that when watching stereo displays, the eyes focus not only at the screen but also the distance of stereo content that is in front of the screen. The Journal of Vision report states that 3D content that is viewed over a short distance, (Desktop, mobile phone) is more harmful to the eyes than that in a movie theatre. With the introduction of so many new 3D products, It is better to understand what kind of technology it is, before it starts to have effects on our health.
